Israel is seen as one of the world’s leading cyber powers, along with the US, China and Russia. Forty percent of global private investments in cyber reach Israel, and one-third of the companies belong to Israelis.

In the first half of 2021, Israeli cybersecurity companies raised $3.4 billion in 50 deals and seven of them became off -shoots, or private companies valued at over $1 billion.

Recently, Israeli top cyber officials and CEOs attended Cybertech cyber conference in US along with UAE at a major cyber conference on Wednesday.

The Israeli-founded international conference, Cybertech, will be held for the first time in New York, will feature Director-General of Israel’s National Cyber Directorate Yigal Unna, former Mossad chief Tamir Pardo, Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel, and Wiz Co-Founder Assaf Rappaport. It was founded by Amir Rapaport, an Israeli defense correspondent, in 2014.

Among its speakers are UAE cybersecurity head Mohamed al-Kuwaiti and Police Telecommunications head Hamad Khalifa Al Nueimi and from US their speakers are former CIA director David Petraeus, past US Cyber Command chief Michael Rogers, and New York’s likely next mayor Eric Adams will be giving addresses at the conference.

Security and communications officials from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Thailand, Serbia, Spain, and Italy are also going to participate in the event. Though, limited countries participated in the Israel hosted event it has been serving extensively across the globe.

Israeli cyber companies and offshoots have been spreading across the world. The Israeli group has been operating in Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia, Middle East and Latin America; mostly in countries with weak regulatory bodies. For instance, it has been disclosed that NSO Group operates through several shell companies; all of which use a unique name. Few known companies are Q Cyber Technologies in Israel, OSY Techno-logies in Luxembourg, and by the name of Westbridge in North America.

Israeli firm “Candiru” even received investment from Qatar Investment Bank. Candiru’s exploits then later have been linked to nation-state malware attacks observed in Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
