More and more countries around the world are grappling with the threat of cyber-attack by anonymous rogue actors. To deal with it, countries are beefing up their offensive capabilities. However, there are very few facilitators to help them in dealing with and preventing such attacks. Amongst them, Phronesis has emerged as a key player after having proved its offensive cyber capabilities during the much-talked about Patchwork.

Brig. Bryan Miranda

Phronesis is a cyber-intelligence firm created by security experts — Retd. Brigadier Prabhakar Bryan Miranda, and Ram Chander Chhillar — with expertise in OffSec Playground and Cyph3r, making it one of the favourites among clients for executing offensive cybersecurity missions.

Phronesis is credited with operations like Operation Hangover, Dropping Elephant, Monsoon and Patchwork that targeted the Indian subcontinent. In these operations, they deployed a pair of EPS exploits that appeared sanctioned operations on the surface, but are known to be malevolent documents, intended at scattering BAD NEWS payload. It acts as a secret entrance for hackers, providing them the full authority of the victim’s machine and exploiting HTTP for contact with remote servers.

In a bid to expand its footprint and gain global clients, Bryan Miranda, [one of the company’s co-founders, is planning to open a French subsidiary of his Dubai-based firm,Plus971 Cyber Security.

Plus971 Cyber Security specializes in building shared Security Operations Centers (SOC) for smaller structures. It gathers open source intelligence, or OSINT, and conducts dark web investigations, using solutions from Darkowl. It also carries out reputational protection work using tools from the Israeli counter-influence firm Cyabra. It has a privileged partnership with Beacon Red, the cyber subsidiary of the Emirati para-public defence company EDGE Group, for which it carries out digital forensics investigations.
